Apple debuts the new Intel-based Xserve, which Apple says is 5x faster than previous generation Xserves. Features a smaller processor, less cooling due to power efficient ships, redundant power supplies, and up to 2TB of storage. Pricing starts at $3000 (standard config is 1GB RAM/80GB drive/dual-dual-core 2.66GHz chips), about $300 cheaper than comparable Dell server. Apple will also offer 1 million BTO configurations.
