One or more of your serial numbers didn't validate.
I'm trying to replace my battery on:
support.apple.com/ibook_powerbook/batteryexchange website.
-Battery Exchange Program iBook G4 and PowerBook G4-

I got this message:
This computer is eligible for the Battery Exchange Program.
This serial number is invalid or does not qualify for the program

One or more of your serial numbers didn't validate.

My battery is falls into the category of those being recalled.
I have never changed my battery, nor any parts on my computer.

Why am I getting this message? I tried calling Apple,
but I cannot get through.

Help ? ! ?

1. You're not alone
I'm having the same problem and getting quite pissed off. The battery number IS within the range, and I've called five times and just get disconnected. :grr:

2. 15th time is the charm, I guess
I finally got the web form to accept the battery's serial number. Keep trying and good luck!

3. What a pain in the ass this is.
I couldn't get the site to accept the serial number.

So, I was on hold for about one hour...The battery will take 4-6 weeks to be delivered.

I think we should get some kind of compensation for this inconvenience, but I know I'm only dreaming.

Thanks!

4. Are you fucking kidding? I gave up after two times and assumed I was
somehow misreading the number.

It says my computer is the right kind but the battery number not accepted. Pain in the ass indeed!
