1. I've heard of people washing keyboards in a dishwasher
I've never tried this, but it might be worth a shot. Top shelf of the dishwasher.

If you need to buy a new keyboard, I really love my Macally icekey. It has the same feel as a good laptop keyboard.

3. I have this same keyboard and love it!
We've been through 3 mac keyboards due to spills, and we just got the macally 2 weeks ago. I really like it.

4. I just put mine in the shower and rinsed it well. When it dried it was

fine. You don't want to wait too long because the acids could damage the circuitry.

I've spilled tea, coffee, and pop in this keyboard and it is fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

innnnnnnne.

Anyway, all the bread crumbs will soak up the coffee.

I have a Playstation 2 USB keyboard as a back up. It works well. It was $19.95.

BTW, I used a small fan to speed up the drying. On occasion I would pick up the keyboard and shake out the water.

5. I use an iSkin ProTouch keyboard protector
It's moulded silicone rubber which fits snugly over the Apple keyboard, and protects it from spills and crud without affecting the feel much. Expensive for what it is, but cheaper than a new keyboard.

6. Not that this directly addresses your post, but
I really like my bluetooth keyboard from Apple. I use rechargeable batteries for it so I don't feel too guilty about the waste. Also, I don't seem to have any of the connectivity problems I had using previous wireless mouse/keyboard setups.

7. Update....
I tried the dishwasher trick to no avail.. it's toast.. fortunately, I had a fairly new wireless keyboard on my pc, so I swiped it and hooked it to the Mac.
