Deal of the century, or am I just that good...

So, I will share with you all how I got a good deal on a Mac Pro. One caveat, I am a student and used a Student discount, but, I don't think apple checks when you buy it online.

OK, here are the specs of the Mac Pro.

2 Dual Core 2.66ghz Xeons
4gb of Ram
1 250GB HDD and a 500GB HDD
Bluetooth
802.11N WiFi
2 Superdrives
ATI X1900Xt

and a 30 inch Cinema Display.

Buying this at full retail from apple would cost $6002.00 before tax.

I have it down to $5057.60 including tax and all shipping.

Here is how I did it.

First, of course, I picked a plain 2.66 ghz Mac Pro and added only Wifi, Bluetooth, 2 superdrives, the ATI graphics card, and Apple Care, from the student store.

Then, a refurbed 30 inch Cinema Display.

Then to OWC for RAM and HDD.

Any questions, let me know.

edit, if you have your own display, or choose a smaller one, it would be even less expensive.

It will be running programs that will assist in research projects during med school.

it will also be holding all my music on the 500gb drive, in Apple Loss-less Format, as well as other various duties.

3. Student Developer Hardware Purchase Program

You pay $99 and you get a major discount on hardware. One time only, but the discount is huge.

5. I checked a bit ago
to see how much less a 23 inch display would cost, and that alone brought the price down to just over $4300.00 bucks including all tax and shipping costs.
