...but I can ask around. I have a friend who wheels & deals in vintage tech; he had a BEAUTIFUL lime gumdrop for $75 not long ago. I was just thinking I needed to call him anyway, so I'll ask if he has any iMacs handy.

Up here in Madison, the UW runs a 'swap shop' warehouse where old computers and furniture eventually either get picked up by other departments or sold to the public (one day per week). They had gumdrop iMacs for $60 new in the box the last time I was there.
It's possible that other Universities might have similar surplus outlets.
