Steve Jobs' obit released in error - but how is he?
S.F. Chronicle, 8-29-08

It was a gaffe by Bloomberg News service that resulted in the release of an obituary for Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who is still very much alive. Some laughed at the error, but it revived a serious question: How is Jobs doing after his bout with pancreatic cancer?

The subject is a fertile field of speculation for bloggers and Apple watchers. The 53-year-old genius of Cupertino has never been forthcoming about his health; when he underwent surgery in 2004 for pancreatic cancer, he didn't tell anyone about the procedure until it was over.

He appeared to recover fully, but people started talking again about the CEO's health in June, when a gaunt Jobs took the stage in San Francisco for the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. Speculation arose that he might be experiencing a recurrence of the cancer.

At the time, the New York Times reported that Jobs had undergone an unspecified surgery earlier this year and might have been experiencing digestive problems, which contributed to his weight loss.
