Favorite software to transfer mp3s from iPod back to Mac? (iPod formerly used with Windows)
An associate of mine has an iPod that he previously synced with his Windows machine. That machine and a consequent machine have both bitten the dust, and he's moved to Mac. However, whenever he tries to sync the iPod, iTunes wants to wipe it clean. What software would you recommend for transferring the files from his iPod over to his new Mac for later resynchronization?

1. I had sorta the same problem
Except I still have the PCs and use them daily. I moved to a Mac. I cannot figure any way to do it.

I was able to move my iPod from one PC to another, but not to the Mac. That move involves transferring certain files from PC to PC. The iPod is, remarkably, uninvolved in any way with the move. Once the proper files are moved, the iPod just fires up on the new machine.

I may stick with keeping it on the PC. Limewire (which is where I get most of my music) doesn't seem to like Macs very much.

If anyone know how move an iPod from PC to Mac, I'd be very interested.

3. I transferred my files to a usb key
I bought an 8 gig usb key, and loaded it with all my music files that I had collected over the years on my old '97 PC.

I then reloaded them onto my new Mac last year, NOT in iTunes.

Opened iTunes, then it searched for music and imported the files.

Worked like a charm.

At that point, I only had about 1000 songs though, so if you have multiple thousands, it might not be time efficient.
