Should I get Apple Care Protection Plan?
Costs over 200 bucs. My macbook one year warranty expires soon and I got the offer in the mail. I think It extends the coverage 2 years. Any thoughts?
I was thinking not, but I will start using Logic 8 soon to record songs. Don't know if that would increase my chances of something going wrong with the machine.

1. When I got my MacPro, I considered it but decided not to .....
The cost of the computer was huge. The cost of the Apple Care was (relatively) nothing. The person who helped me make my choice and configure my machine has run a whole animation shop full of big, honkin' Macs and PCs for the last 15 years. He said not to bother. The Macs have virtually no problems at all. Ever. A few dead hard drives along the way, but that's it.

The PCs are a whole other story.

2. I would and did, and boy am I glad.
One computer, no protection, and my husband killed it. $1000.00 down the drain. imac 24" with protection and the hard drive fails for some unknown reason, totally fixed with no cost to me. After that experience I even have coverage on my ipod. Think of the $200 as a way to insure you won't have to buy another one for three years! I do think it is worth it.

6. I'd third that
Laptops have a harder life than desktops, and have a greater failure rate.

8. I am considering it because...
a friend of mine had his motherboard repaired TWICE during the same month. His computer is now in the shop and he is glad he had the extended guaranty because he wouldn't be able to pay for a new computer now or the repairs. I know this is a rare circumstance but you never know if it would happen to you.

10. Speaking as an Apple Portable Technician....
HELL YES!!!!

Laptop repairs are not cheap. I'm not as worried about APP on a desktop, but I consider it part of the price on a laptop or ipod/iphone

11. Yes. I had to use it twice for hardware issues with the graphics. I paid for
itself for my old Powerbook.
