Weird message on startup.
This has only happened once. I connect to my Mac Mini by ethernet. One night I shut it down and the next morning upon startup I got this message:
None of your trusted networks can be found. Would you like to join the open wireless network named "purrfectbitch"?

???

1. Is purrfectbitch...
the name of your wireless network? If so, this would be normal, as when you shut it down you broke the link with your network and have to re-establish it. If it is no the name, then you are picking up someone elses network and not seeing yours. Since you are posting, I will assume it is the name and all should be fine.

2. My network is not wireless and is simply called "Untitled Configuration".
This happened before Christmas and I simply restarted and it went on to the Untitled Configuration. I do live near 2 motels that probably have wireless, but I doubt that they would have that name. I just wondered what it might all be about because it should not be hard to find my wired connection via ethernet.

3. You'd be surprised...
I got an iPod Touch a couple months ago, and when wandering around encounter some real strange names. It is also surprising how many people do not secure their wireless.

4. What I do not get is why my Mini would not connect to my modem by the ethernet connection.
I know there are many who do not secure their wireless and that there are some strange names, but router is not wireless and I don't even have Airport turned on.

8. The only way I connect with the internet is through an ethernet cable from my modem.
That is why I was surprised to get the message:
None of your trusted networks can be found. Would you like to join the open wireless network named "purrfectbitch"?

I do have Airport on my Mini, but I didn't think it was turned on. I was sure a connection would always be made from my modem through the ethernet wire to my computer. That is why I was surprised and suspicious to get the above message and when I restarted it did connect immediately through the ethernet connection.

9. Okay...
so it did hook up through ethernet. the message you are getting sounds like it is looking for wireless connections, which you say you do not use. Sounds like it is trying to initiate connection, so you might want to go back in preferences and make sure that airport is still turned off, as you had it before. Hope this helps.
