Poll question: When Win7 comes out, will you update BootCamp/Fusion/et al with it?
And tell us if you're running XP, Vista, or not bothering to use Windows of any sort?

:hi:

1. The VISTA ULTIMATE machine just got downgraded
to XP Pro... after three years of nightmares no thank you

Please MAC make ONLINE games. That way the next puter we buy for the gaming bug at home will be a MAC.

Yes I am fed up with windows. Only good thing it does is the Lappie, as a glorified word processor. That one will serve for years to come, and as long as DHS threatens taking puters away at ports of entry, you need a disposable machine for that. Aka the lappie

2. I have 7 on my primary box and it's actually pretty good
I'm looking into how I can get Hackintosh running along side but I have a Nvidia, and IIRC the Mac usually uses a ATI card... I also have a AMD processor.

My only really question about the Mac OS, is how does it handle dual/multiple screens?

Linux does it rather well, and Ubuntu 9.04 dos it almost automatically (I had to have many fights with 7-8 to get both my screens working)

I have a netbook running XP, and I'm debating putting hackintosh on it - I've seen it's possible with my little Acer one (aoa-150).
I am also looking for 32GB HCSD cards so I can run my system on a card and not the hard drive to get more battery life out of it (it's mark 1, the current model gets 10 HOURS natively)

anyway that's my 2 cents on that :)

3. ATI cards
have been on the out for some time now. There's not a Mac you can buy with an ATI card.

Multiple screens? My G4 iBook (2003) did that quite nicely and it was an entry level box.

4. I use multiple screens - it's a breeze to set up
Just plug it in and off it goes. I can use separate wallpaper for each screen, but otherwise to set them up is pretty much the same under Windows as it is a Mac. Well, nvidia and ati windows drivers have wizards to go through the motions, but that's just clicking "Next" five times...

Nice idea with the HCSD card. :)

I'd avoid the hackintosh - you don't know if the programmers who nicked it put in malware to steal personal data or if they want to set up a botnet. Never mind that when Apple puts out an update, it might render the hack unusable too. Piracy is never a good thing and the pirates know that too. (Plus, and I try to be objective, piracy is wrong through and through, and even if Apple is a giant company (ditto for Microsoft), I can't condone stealing it. Of course, charging a price that's equivalent to theft is wrong too... :) but piracy isn't the answer...)
