2. Get a Western Digital Velociraptor, if not a couple of SSDs to make a RAID 0 drive.
3. Connect to iMac.
4. Install OS X 10.6
5. Find way to make external drive the default drive.

Am I nuts? :D

and it would seem you also have WAAAAAYYY too much time on your hands.

not that it won't work, but it seems a waste of storage. do you really need that kind of redundancy?

2. RAID 1 is redundancy, RAID 0 is for speed.

And I do a lot of work with images and other forms of intellectual property. Having any backup is rather important, but speed can be useful too.

If you prefer, I'm sure we could find other things to do with my hands... :evilgrin:
