First Snow Leopard disappointment. - envelopes

I use NeoOffice (I love it), and Pages (Its Ok) and have had no problems getting an envelope to print before. But, with Easy Envelopes, it was even easier and quick.

Snow does not support Easy Envelopes. Snow refuses to print NeoOffice envelopes, and It refuses to print Pages envelopes.

frustrating as all hell, when I should be doing more work.

My only hope is that Easy Envelopes comes up with a new version, and soon.

Otherwise, SL is great. It saved me 20 gigs of memory and is F A S T !

1. I also use a Xerox Phaser 6200 work horse that seems indestructible

the Snow found the latest drivers, so that is not the problem.

But it remains frustrating as all hell.

2. apparently, 10.6 does not support Xerox printers, not even

mid or high level ones.

And their proposed "fix" to install "Rosetta" from the 10.6 disc still does not allow the printing of envelopes. The same error message pops up. But Rosetta install does allow the general printing to work. somewhat.

5. Epson stopped supporting the R2400 printer ($1000, high end). I had to do the Rosetta routine too.

Fortunately, that workaround has restored full functionality, but the R2400 came out circa 2005 and was discontinued in... 2008. For a professional grade printer, Epson's act of not supporting 10.6 with this model is discouraging; by now other vendors (hopefully Canon) will now have large format, pigment-based printers.

Epson's quality is GREAT, but drivers are necessary. Even H-piddling-P supports their printers longer, and they make ready-made garbage.

3. I'm told printers are a problem with it here

I really want to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but Stinky tells me it won't drive our printers! Is there a way to double-check? (How did it find the drivers you mentioned?)

6. i tried to use neooffice

but I just hated the interface. As much as I loathe it, I use MS Office. I use Appleworks when I can, but it's a pain submitting school work when you have to change file formats to keep the text formatted the way you want it.

And, I have to say, I have yet to find a better presentation construction program than MS PowerPoint

7. which version of neooffice did you use? the early ones were iffy, but 3.0

is rock solid and fantastic. Better than MSOrfice.

Appleworks? that's a few generations ago.

Pages is pretty cool.

Open office had some formatting problems, that Neo has solved.

Oh, finally, I managed to get NeoOffice to recognize the envelop tray for my phaser, and managed to get envelopes out again. The problem is that Easy Envelopes also did Post Office Bar Codes automatically, and that really sped my outgoing mail up tremendously.

8. No, I have the current NeoOffice on my computer right now

I just didn't click with it.

And I've transferred my Appleworks to each new machine, because I have yet to find a better basic image manipulator. I use photoshop for more complicated stuff, but if I just want to resize an image, or crop, appleworks is very fast (even if it doesn't produce hi-res stuff)
