The new machines from Apple are very appealing
Apple's bump of the MacBook, Mac Mini, and especially the iMac are very nice moves forward.

The new 27" iMac with the Core i7 processor would be my machine of choice if I didn't already have an 8-core Early 2008 Mac Pro that's only six months old.

I'm wondering if anybody will notice it on my desk if I try to slip one in next to the 24" LCD (non-Apple) that I'm using now.

1. Even with my new Mac Pro single-quad (2.66), it's still better...
Albeit not by much... but the expandability and internal hard drive support have been quite a boon.

That's a killer machine, even if they are displaying pop culture re-manufactured drivel on the monitor...

Still, a 27" IPS panel for the monitor - that iMac is a steal. Windows users can preemptively shut up.

5. I love the expandability of my Mac Pro
I have it loaded up with four hard drives (two of them from my old PowerMac), which will eventually be replaced with 2GB drives.

If this iMac were available back in March when I bought my Mac Pro, it's quite possible I would have gone for the iMac.

Nice kit you've got rigged. :) Great design (not just looks, I mean the HOW aspect)...

2. Six months! Ha! Try 3 weeks!
And the new top of the line is $200 less than what I paid for my top of the line!:grr:

Why did that Hard drive have to fail last month?

8. Inevitable with technology...
When I got my Macbook Pro ($2499), like three months later it dropped to $1999.

No regrets, however.

3. Beautiful, but it is the Mini Server that might generate some interest

4. The Mac Mini is a great little computer.
I have been using one at the office and loved it. So, when my PC at home died a few months ago, I bought a Mac Mini for home. I love it because of its compactness. No huge tower, just a little square box.

7. Saw them the other day at Best Buy
I really like what I saw. I'm trying to decide whether to get my mom that or a Mac Mini.
