1. It took six and a half hours, oy
on the bright side, found that cross over does not work with snow leopard, (my version that is) but WINE does... so now I can use my windows writing program that I like to use when I take the lappie. On and it is now on both puters... SWEEEETTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

The program did not work well on previous versions of either the distro or cross over... SWEEETTTTT!

2. I have Snow Leopard, 10.6.2. Crossover and Crossover Games both work.
Good to hear WINE works -- but for independent bottles of apps, I do prefer Crossover when possible. When I was a Linux fan, I found it easy to corrupt the WINE installation. Of course, this was SuSE at the time and they had their own, specialized versions...

3. Suse has its issues... I like Ubuntu much better, as well as mandriva
but in the end I had to replace the lappie. It was getting slow as can be. So I opened it (I dropped it at home in Mexico) I was hopping something got lose and I could fix it...

Cracked motherboard... so I got files out, deinstalled as much software as I could... as it died...

Found el cheapo netbook for travel and conventions... and actually splurged for win 7... easier to secure against lovely niece... long story. Suffice it to say... I still have issues with the virus that went into the box I will give to nephew thanks to virus gate... errr Microsoft Messenger...

IT should run the simple software I need without too many issues, even in Win 7...

And one of them is the one that runs under WINE as well on my Macbook. The second runs natively on both... ah JAVA.

So life is good with the world.

<------ don't drop the puter. Of course that is also the trip I fell and was lucky not to break something... serious. And yes my macbook stays home...

Oh and lappie, battery life is now all the way to close to six hours! COOL!

So this is for the moment of Geek...

Now still need to download open office... no will not think of even getting word 7... why?
