Cussing at Xcode: What good is a "debug" option if it's buggier than the "release" option?

Gotta write some c++ code. Great: I'll do it on my mac using Xcode! Write write write. Compile. WTF is this error? Where is my mistake? Scratch head. Rewrite. That part works, but this part doesn't. WTF? Where is my mistake? Search documentation. Search documentation. Rewrite. WTF is wrong here? Search web. Search web more. Search web still more. Aha! FU Xcode: some of the stream stuff doesn't work properly in "debug" mode but seems to work OK in "release" mode. WTF good is a "debug" mode if you have to write TWO versions of the code -- one to debug and a different one for final use?
