Snow Leopard and LaCie external HD

Among the compatibility issues I've had since installing Snow Leopard is that my external HD (firewire) is no longer recognized by my iMac.

I'm off to the Mac store later, have a trouble ticket in to LaCie, downloaded all the tools and updates I thought might help... but meanwhile just wondered if anyone here had faced the same issue.

1. Does it show up in the left pane if you launch disk utility?

Applications >> Utilities >> Disk Utility

Sorry for the delay in getting back here. I went through tech support with LaCie, they suggested I get a disk data rescue software ($75) which still didn't work, and now they will send me another one if I send them back this one -- but of course, I lose all my stuff unless I send it to a company that rescues files, which I'm told is expensive. So now I don't know what to do!

I think the problems do coincide with the time I switched to Snow Leopard, so i'll read through the thread you posted.
