I'm officially a Mac user now
A friend who was upgrading to a new one gave me a G4 FireWire 800 with dual 1.42ghz processors and 2gb ram. I got a Mac 22" cinema display monitor with it. It might be 6-7 years old or so, but it still smokes the pants off any windows machine I've ever used!

:D :woohoo:

2. It's really fast and smooth
I played with it for a few hours this evening and it did everything I asked it to do without any hesitation.

From what Ive read about it, it's the last of the G4 line before the G5 came out and this one was the top of the line. It was a really nice freebie for sure. :D

4. Should be able to push some polygons with that one. I had
an earlier G4 dual the 450 AGP. It's still in use at our local Democratic Party. It still has Photoshop 7 on it.

8. When it comes time to move up, I believe Yellow Dog Linux
makes Linux for the PPC platform.

10. True. I hated losing Photoshop when I moved to Intel.

5. I have a PowerBook G4 with 400 FireWire... got it Nov 04...
It still kicks ass, especially since I FINALLY figured out how to update it (system disks are like gold for some of the "pre-Intel" machines to update.

Welcome to the world of Macintosh. I'm good for a few more years until I spring for whatever else kicks the shit out of PCs.

:hi:

7. thanks
:hi:

I'm hoping it won't be too hard to find the discs I'll need, I didn't get any discs with this one since the person that gave it to me still has more macs on a network that need them. My boss at work is a Mac guru so I think he can come up with what I need t keep it going.
