MacBook Pro problem
For most of the day yesterday, I was having a problem with my cursor. When ever I attempted to type an email, open a new tab, or enter a password I would have a line of "g"s show up in the area in which I was trying to type. Nothing would stop them. I tried delete and backspace, but the line would continue. I tried shutting my computer down several times, but that didn't clear the problem.

I don't have a service contract with Mac anymore and was dreading having to mail my computer somewhere to have it repaired, however last night at about 10:00 the problem suddenly disappeared.

So my question is can anyone tell me what the problem was and if it happens again, what do I do to fix it?

2. No, I didn't think of that...
I'll give it a good shake now. Thanks for the suggestion.

3. if you are SUPER careful
and follow instructions, you can pop the keys off. However, it's not like a standard keyboard, where they just come off; you have to push in little flanges, blah, blah. I did it by accident once, and broke the key a bit; luckily I managed to glue it back together well enough to work

4. I don't know if I would want to try that
I'd be concerned that I would do it wrong and mess things up worse. I've already been bad to my MacBook by spilling beer on the keys and now half of them are stuck. I had to buy a keyboard to be able to use my computer.

5. Check your battery. No joke.
Batteries expand as they grow old. On my Macbook white, the 4 year old battery actually began to bulge the cover outward. But it also bulges right underneath the trackpad. The pressure messes with the functioning of the trackpad.

Remove the battery and the problem disappears.

Good luck.

6. Bozita, I was still having the problem
and it was getting worse. Every time I opened a new tab or tried to type an email my computer would automatically begin to type "g's". Even shutting the computer down and restarting didn't help any more. So I came back here to see if there were any new suggestions. I read yours about taking the battery out and tried that. When I removed it, I could see a lot of dust or something inside the opening. I very carefully vacuumed all of it out and wiped the battery clean. Since then, my computer has worked great and I want to thank you for your suggestion. It looks like this has solved my problem.
