The concept is pretty damned cool: a cross between a mouse and a touch pad, with the entire top a gesture-sensitive surface.

Incredibly, even though it is entire implemented via software, it lacks a "middle click".

I downloaded a free bit of software for it called Magic Prefs. After a few minutes of setup I was able to mimic a middle click with a three finger click. Now it works well for me.

I generally like Apple's stuff, but their mice out and out suck. This one is maybe their best, but still it lacks what any ten buck mouse has. C'mon, Steve. The whole concept of the mouse is YOURS, ferkrissakes. Make one that works.

7. I love my Kensington Expert Mouse Pro. Huge trackball,
four buttons to click, and six programmable buttons to launch apps and other tasks.

2. Actually Xerox invented the mouse, GUI, Network as we know it today...
and pretty much everything about computers that we are familiar with.
The history of Silicon valley is a very interesting one.

Apple, like Microsoft, invented nothing, just took advantage of a marketing opportunity using someone else's work.

3. I'll never buy another Apple mouse. Abstractly, they seem great; but the reality sucks eggs
I got a MightyMouse with a new mac 2 years ago. Looks great; took a bit of practice to control the hidden left and right buttons under the smooth coat, but I finally got it; nice size; then the scroll nub rather quickly stopped functioning. Bummer! thought I, but I stupidly shelled out for another. And lo! once again, the scroll nub rather quickly stopped functioning. Two expensive dysfunctional pieces of crap in less than year has a definite moral

5. Too late now, but...
You can clean the scroll ball.

I've had my MightyMouse for over 4 years now and in constant, heavy use.

After cleaning it a few times it finally failed. So I took it apart and cleaned it. Now it's working fine again.

Most mice with balls need cleaning. (I'll leave that pun in place.)

6. I still have both of them. I cleaned them from the outside regularly
according to Apple's instructions. BOTH of mine failed within about six weeks. Taking the things apart and reassembling seems to be a major nuisance -- and I'm just not going to do that every six weeks
