Magic Trackpad, your review. I just bought one, and the

learning curve isn't too steep. I still have to use my trackball on some sites that are jumpy with the MT, and photo editors are still difficult for me. I guess I will be comfortable with it in a few years. I have used a trackball for eleven years, so this is a real change.

What has your experience been.

I noticed some navigation didn't appear in Angry Birds, and my trackball habit of resting my hand on the device is the source of the wild shots.

So how has it worked for you?

1. My beloved Microsoft Trackball Explorer from 2001 is gathering dust.

They can go for hundreds of dollars on eBay. No matter what I tried, I would always go back to it.

Drawing and adjusting paths in Photoshop were the hardest to get used to. Now it's second nature.

Really liking the new gestures in Lion. I added all of the options in the Trackpad preferences.

Two minor complaints:

1) The lack of forward/backward gestures in the Finder and in the iTunes Store/Mac App Store. I want two finger control back in the Finder and finally in the other two.

2) A true click-lock for moving things. I like the 'Three finger drag' gesture. There is a slight delay that assists in long drags/delay repositioning, but I would like a way to increase the delay or get back the true click-lock that existed before.

But in the end, I am using it pretty much 100% of the time.

2. So far I only use my trackball for GIMP and eEdition of my

local paper. I'm still getting the hang of drag and drop, and copy/paste.

I am using a Kensington Orbit Optical, but that is because my old six programable button Kensington pro has gone gimpy on me. That sucker was around $100 back in the good old days when you could find a lot of trackballs.

3. I used the original two-button Kensington throughout the 90s.

I can still feel the solid roll of the ball and the little, tiny 'tick' that the buttons produced when they clicked.

4. I have arthritis and a trackball is much easier on my

tired old bones. When a friend came down with MS, I got him a trackball because they are easier to use if you have fine motor control issues.
