Wanted: Recommendations For Home Canning/Preserving Books
I'm a novice at home canning -- who has a book they've used and would recommend?

Also, any recommendations for steam canners would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. I bought a Kerr canning guide years ago
and it has been the best resource I've ever used. (It may have come with a case of jars - it's a little paperback)

2. Actually, it's the Ball Blue Book of Preserving (same company as Kerr)
And it's still a stunningly low $4.95 (which makes it one of the best bargains out there).

I'd be lost without this book every summer and fall!

3. Here's two
Putting Food By
Stocking Up

Get the most recent editions any time you get canning books because the safety precautions periodically get upgraded.

5. Preserving the Harvest

has been my best source yet, but don't loan it out! Mine was missing for a year ( returned with lots of canned goodies, though) then left in a camp kitchen by accident never to be seen again.

6. Too late to edit the above but I was wrong
Even though the above book is awesome, the one I had and lost was this: Keeping the Harvest. I realized it when i saw the pics of the covers. Here is a link to the book:

Pardon my brain malfunction.....
