1. Separated? How?
If there's a thin haze of green stuff on the bottom, that's OK. It just means some solid stuff got through with that first pressing. Just discard it when you get down to that last heel tap of oil on the bottom of the bottle.

If there is some other kind of separation, that means it's been contaminated with something else. Take it back and get somebody else's brand.

2. warpy's right-- there's nothing to separate if it's just oil...
...so if it's really separated, it's got something else in it.

3. well, there are little floating particles in the top half..
the bottom half looks like "fat"...like maybe it froze or something...but it's been in my pantry. I know it did not look like that when I bought it...interesting. Thanks to you both..

5. Frozen olive oil goes solid
then melts back into just plain old oil when it thaws. What you've got is a bottle of oil contaminated with gawd knows what.

Take it back to the store. Get another brand and make sure there's nothing in it but oil.

4. Since I can't see your bottle, I'd just say the old adage .....
When in doubt .... throw it out.

6. Thanks, I'll take it back. I'll let you know if the store had other
complaints. It was not a cheap-o brand.

7. I think olive oil gets cloudy when it's chilled.
Warm it up to room temperature and see if that solves the problem.
