Has anyone ordered food from overseas?

When I was younger I lived in Reims France. This is the middle of Champagne country. I remember eating Chocolate shaped like corks filled with Champagne liquid. The filling was enrobed in a crust of crunchy sugar -then covered with chocolate.

I long for these candies. I have done google searches till the cows come home and find things similar---but not the same.

Has anyone here ever had these? Can you get them here in the US.

Has anyone ever ordered food products from overseas?
I'm ready to call France to see if I can get some sent to me.

It would be hazelnut M&Ms. I bought two bags when I was in Germany a few years back...they were like heaven. I can't seem to find them....sigh.

The sugar crust inside happends because the alcohol leaches it out of the chocolate. And it's yummy! :9 I love brandy-filled chocolate. I've never heard of champagne-filled chocolate, but it sounds delicious!

Try your local gourmet shop. They might know where to find them. My local shop has all kinds of liquer-filled bars. Now that you mention it, I might get a variety for xmas celebrations.

Unfortunately, I've yet to find the ones I really long for. I've tried everywhere in NY and in Seattle. Years ago, I was told it was illegal to import them into the states. Since then, I've seen other alcohol filled candies. I guess I better brush up on my French and figure out the time difference.

Which is to champagne as grappa is to Italian red wine.

IIRC it is not allowed. At least there is a warning about it hanging in the local post office.

The sweet you are looking for is IMHO "bouchon au Marc de Champagne" (sp?).
