I just screwed up and I'm frustrated. I was making a double batch of chocolate chip cookies and I got distracted and lost my count with the flour. I was using a half cup measure which was hard enough to track. The kid came in, asked a question and there ya go......I went with my gut and gonna try a test cookie to be on the safe side.....But Jeeeeeze....
When will I ever learn to measure into a bowl before combining ingredients?
Anyone else do the same stupid things over and over again in the kitchen?

Sometims I start fixing a recipe assuming I have all the ingredients because I usually do. And then I'm missing some critical herb or spice. So I have to make a substitute that doesn't cut it - or run out to the store for one darned thing.

2. i do that with salt in my bread |

now it's the FIRST thing into the bowl cuz I have forgotten it too often
as for cookie dough, can't you tell by the texture of the dough? I'm not much of a baker.....
never mind, on further thought 1/2 cup either way would be hard to distinguish

They came out fine but I'm pretty sure I shorted it by a half a cup. Just finished 50 chocolate chip cookies and two dozen beautiful lemon pound cake cup cakes for my daughters drama group. I normally don't eat sugar or for that matter white flour but you know I just hadda have a taste. The lemon cream/cheese frosting was my best ever!

I was thinking today of making a lemon pound cake to go along with rhubarb sauce -- just bought some lovely new rhubarb this afternoon and don't feel like making pie.

I tried some for the first time yesterday and they're so good. I really like lemony desserts.
