Sick of Ramen Noodles? Try this...

I have better recipes than this, but wanted to post this one first for the college students out there (or anyone else trying to live on ramen noodles). I tried it the first time after I'd been eating ramen for weeks and was sick of the soup, and it was a nice change.

1) Boil Ramen noodles as directed, just like you normally do.
2) When they're done, dump out the water, and add a *small* amount of butter or oil to the now waterless noodles.
3) Fry a minute or two on low/medium heat, adding the spice packet that came with the Ramen noodles. Stir well.
4) When the noodles are just slightly browned and a little drier, remove from heat and eat immediately.

As I said, I have MANY better recipes than this, but this one was quick and easy, both to make, and to type. I've been into cooking Indian, Thai and Greek food lately, and will post a number of fairly easy recipes that draw from all three influences. Soon.

And the sodium in that flavor packet will give you high blood pressure before you hit 25. It's deadly.

How about draining them and throwing in some vegetables - frozen are good - and toss with some kind of salad dressing, or just some vinegar? Or plain mayo?

Use some of your Thai sauces, maybe?

People don't know how deadly those ramen packs are. Unbelievably bad. You'd be better off buying cheap vermicelli or spaghettini in your local supermarket (if you have one).

LOL, I hate the damned things! :D I won't eat them anymore nowdays unless there's absolutely nothing else to eat.

I just remembered cooking them that way back in college. I don't think I put the whole spice packet in. But you're right, it can be very salty if you use it all. The advantage back then was that I already had the packet (didn't cost anything else).

I lived on a straight diet of Ramen for ten months in 1969. I can't even think about the stuff.

I think the only way I'd eat it voluntarily is if it was smothered in a filet mignon.

I admit, there was a time when I was mighty grateful for it.
