Treasure trove link for fresh fruits, veggies recipes and lots more!

http://www.mariquita.com/recipes/index.html

I've spent the day on Local Harvest - http://www.localharvest.org/, and visiting (virtual visiting) all these wonderful farms, doing research on my "dream farm" ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=353x749 ) and learning about fruits, veggies, CSAs and Farmers' Markets. Any hoooo, this lady has recipes that I'll be trying for years - lots require various chilies/peppers, and I think this will help me learn about peppers. I am a Northeast gringo, and only had Mexican food after I'd joined the military when I was 22. Half the time I don't understand some of the ingredients you all share here, too. :)

Heck, I finally googled balsamic vinegar the other day, if that tells you anything. My parents were meat and potatoes types, and many things I have tried in the past year I had only seen on restaurant menus and magazines.

Anyway, as thanks for all your sharing with me, and enjoy these wonderful sounding recipes.

1. thanks mandy! one of the things I'm looking forward to in my move
is the ability to have a garden and since I'll be in New Mexico, peppers are a must do!

it's gonna take some trial and error though cuz my DH isn't a hot hot hot pepper eater

i'll be trying different varieties in the mild range

i'll keep you guys posted

2. There are a lot of mild ones that taste really good.
Sweet banana peppers are yummy. I deseed them and fry them up in olive oil to put on Italian sausage sandwiches. Poblanos I like a lot too.

4. I tried starting peppers from seeds this year
It was a dismal failure. Few of the seeds germinated, and the ones that did stopped growing. They're just sitting there, doing nothing.

The back of the seed packet said something like, "Will take 7 to 21 days to germinate if they do at all." I'm going back to buying starts. The problem is my favorite place to get peppers is through a catalogue, and the shipping is horrendously expensive.

Has anyone else had this problem?
