Poll question: Do you like/use garlic?
I love garlic and eat it every chance I get. I think it may be my most used spice. Thankfully hubby likes it as well. Do you all like garlic?

1. On almost everything....
....except ice cream and I believe one poster here uses it on that (with olive oil and oregano).....

2. When I lived in the Middle East, pickled garlic was one of the
group of pickled foods available to accompany meals. They were popular in the small villages and less popular among the westernized urban population. My ex-husband's uncle used to gather his children around the table once a month and have them polish off a jar of pickled garlic. He told me that pickled garlic had good medicinal qualities and that his children had never had worms because he dosed them regularly with pickled garlic. Now this was in addition to all the other garlic served in stews and other forms they consumed.

5. Garlic panna cotta
is a hugh(!) favorite. Gotta love garlic to love garlic pudding. I couldn't make a meal without it.

7. I do, but Mr. Ketchup.... not so much
so I use it sparingly and only in some dishes. on the bright side, it's expanded my spice horizons a lot by trying different stuff to get the flavor in a dish

10. Mr. Ketchup is adored muchly by my
little 3 yr old granddaughter who would put it on ice cream if her mommy would let her. I just introduced her to salsa so now she dips her quesadillas in salsa instead of ketchup. That child is a serious eater. She's the queen of the 3 hour lunch. Told my daughter she's going to have to work on that before that child gets to kindergarten and has a real tight schedule.

as for the ketchup and the kidlet, watch out for HFCS in there. maybe wean her off to tomato sauce instead of the sugar laden ketchup?

9. I'm rediscovering garlic after having had to avoid it for 25 years
while I was nursing. There was only so much peppermint I could chew during a 12 hour shift without gagging, and I didn't want the postop patients to barf on me.

Garlic is lovely stuff, though.

Except I was wondering why you would nurse for 25 years. I mean, I've heard of some moms who nurse up to age 3 or so, .. but 25???

22. not all the time, not in everything
I think it's raw garlic that I really keep a lid on. I've been to restaurants where the bite of the raw garlic is so strong that I can't eat the food. For example, I think a mess of hummus only needs a half clove of garlic, otherwise the other flavors are missed. And I heartily object to garlic in certain foods such as potato salad or turkey gravy. Grrrrr!
