OK folks, Bad News
The new Nabisco OREO Cakesters taste just like the old Devil Dogs of my youth.

Now, I'm not a junk food addict but do allow myself some chips or cheese popcorn now and then. I saw these last week at the store and have no idea why I bought them. Wish I didn't, this could be the start of something bad.

1. Oh I'm so sorry
I never much got into the Devil Dogs myself. I did like the Ring Dings and the Yodels on occasion. I really liked the ones that had the peanut butter cream. I'm forgetting their name though.

5. They were originally called
"Tandy Takes," but now they're called "Kandy Kakes." They're by Tastykake, and they are sublime.

6. No not those....My daughter just got a case of them for Christmas

Her aunt and uncle in Philly sent her a case of the peanut butter tandy cakes. They are good.

I was thinkining of Funny Bones. They were like Ring Dings rolled with a creamy peanut butter flavored cream then dipped in the chocolate glaze.

7. Your daughter is a lucky girl!
My grandfather sold them in his grocery store, and, when I was little, he'd get the Tastykake guy to bring me a birthday cake, which was a doll in the center, the whole round cake decorated as her very fancy gown. It's still one of my most wonderful childhood memories. He surprised me with it every year.

My mother used to send cases of Taskykakes to me for everyone on my floor in my dorm in college in New England, where they were unknown.

Still, Devil Dogs were pretty wonderful, and though I've never before heard of Funny Bones, they sound absolutely wonderful.

Ever try the Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets? Divine........

9. Funny Bones were my favorite Drake's cakes.
I liked Devil Dogs too and even the occasional Snowball.
I'm SO glad that my palate rejects all of them now -- much better for the waistline that way.

11. I loved the snowballs every once in a while
They were full of so much plastic I swear they could bounce. I use to break them up and squish them into smaller bite sized balls. Their texture was just made for squishing.

I loved the butterscotch Krimpets from tastycake and the crumb cakes. Out here in the PNW Crumbcakes are not available unless you make your own. Every once in a while you can find an Entenmens coffee cake but they are a rare treat.

Meh, I don't eat that stuff much anymore anyway.

14. Funny Bones!
That's the only food I never threw up when I was pregnant - they saved my life. :)

A couple years I had relatives out in New England send me a box for Christmas, I can't get them around here - which is why I can't have any more kids.

2. I don't remember Devil Dogs.
But I have tasted the Cakesters, and if I weren't a diabetic they could be a regular temptation. Something about the mouth feel.

4. My ever widening hips thank you for posting this.
About the only junk food I don't like is Oreos. I don't know why. Devil Dogs, on the other hand, could be chosen as a favorite last meal.

8. Now you've done it, I have been trying unsuccessfully to find Mickey's Devil Dogs
for a very long long time. Then I thought even if I did succeed in finding them that they would probably not be the same as yesteryear.

I don't tend to eat store bought junk food, I love making my own sweets. Next time I'm at the store I'll have to buy some to try out.

Thanks for the info, yy4me:hi:

10. I moved to Colorado to get away from them!
Well, okay, not really. But I stopped missing them. The soft chocolaty cake and ultra soft creamy in between. Mmmmmmm

Thanks for letting us know. I'm not into New Years resolutions anyway. :D
