The weirdest thing I eat. And it's from cans. And microwaved!

I started doing this in college because
A) I was a vegetarian at the time and
B) I was poor :D
It's WAY better than it sounds, but it is weird.

Pearitos:

1 can green peas
1 can black eyed peas
Pepper jack cheese
Cajun seasoning
Tortillas

Drain the excess liquid from both cans of veggies and mix together in a bowl.
Chuck in the fridge.
When ready to eat, take one tortilla, place a slice of pepperjack on it , and spoon on a couple of tablespoons of the peas. Microwave, open, for about 45 seconds, sprinkle on a little cajun seasoning, and roll and eat.

Told ya it was weird.
But it really is good. :)

11. Allergies. Shellfish and pbutter. And corn, but I can sneak some corn

products in occasionally. Not so lucky with peanuts and shellfish. If I'm in the room with someone shelling peanuts I can barely breathe. :eyes: Loads o fun!

8. Canned tuna mixed with catsup and (homemade) pickle

18. I don't eat mayonaise and needed something to glue it all

together. I've been doing this for 55 years. Sometimes use cocktail sauce instead of catsup. I also put catsup on sardines.

Cocktail sauce would be really interesting!
I have a friend that doesn't do mayo either. She aways just ate hers plain on bread, or on a salad.

12. College brings out weird food creativity - usually due to poverty

and lack of time.

Lacking both time and money, I cooked what I had on hand, which was - yellow squash, bacon and onions.

To this day, I just love that combo and, I realize now that I was Miss Low Carb without knowing it in college.

14. Yum. We cook a bacon, onion, cabbage and potato thing that's an old family recipe.

So squash, bacon and onions sound great to me! And a little better for you! Another for my "try this combo" list! Thanks. :)

15. I know. Most canned goods are a "no" for me....but it was quick, easy and had a little

nutrition.
And it is great. Even with fresh peas. :)

Not to me or my father (but he eats canned peas, so....?). All my life and his, we have had canned liver pate on bread.

When I was young (55+++ yrs ago!?), I learned folding bread in half for pate sandwich from my father (he's Swiss). No other of our sanwiches are folded. I never asked why. It's just how one eats canned pate on bread.

Hormel and Underwood used to be available, but the grocery stores keep deleting items, and there is only one brand left on the shelf (a black & red can).

There are some passable pates available in the deli area, but it's a different animal. I like to keep the canned stuff on the shelf.

So there.

I betcha aint nobody else loves it.

20. I never got into potted meats. The closest I come is liverwurst, texturewise

and I haven't had that in a loooooong time. And I've never made my own pate. But I love liver. So the fact that we eat anything with "liver" in the title probably puts us in the weird club as far as many people are concerned. I only know two people who like liver in any form, and I'm one of them. LOL

I do eat tuna on folded bread though! Since I try and eat smaller meals throughout the day, I'll often do a bit of tuna on one slice of bread.
