I bought it at the Indian grocery cuz I was told it was the same thing as raw sugar. It's not. I spose I could use it in stuff like bbq sauce...it's dried cane sugar with salt! Do NOT put it in your coffee. (just sayin') :hi:

I love Cardemom and always put it in my rice pudding. I'm also wondering if you can use this sugar to make galub jaman?
I'm curious about what this sugar tastes like now. Is the salt equal to the sweet? I'll have to look for it the next time I'm at the Asian grocer

3. I saw one board post that said it didn't work but also found it listed as components |
|
in other galub jamans. I think it's probably a situation of using it correctly?
I still can't figure out why joneschick's tastes salty. It looks like there are different types, but I'm not seeing anything thats supposed to be salty...?

5. Ok, You got Jaggery mixed with Salt |
|
I think they probably sell Jaggery with or without the salt. I'm thinking what you got is a product made for making pickled products. Maybe make some Mango Chutney with it.

Barbara Tropp's recipe for fire dried pecans.
Soak pecan halves in a bowl of boiling water for an hour
Arrange in one layer on paper towels on a baking sheet and dry in a very slow oven, 200 or thereabouts.
Stir fry in a little oil with sugar and salt sprinkled in.
They are absolutely amazing. They're especially good with spicy Szechuan cabbage.

Great idea! I just bought some pecans at TJ's last week. They are my favorites. I'm so gonna make some of these this week. But without the Jaggery.
