Photo of Artisan Bread - Whole Wheat and Rye edition
This has 3/4 cups of whole wheat flour, and 1/2 of fine ground German rye flour (from a mill nearby - but Rye flour from the store will be just fine)

It tastes as good as it looks, ans is a bit darker than the photo shows.

I've started to have the oven steamy with boiling water before I put in the bread to bake, and the crust is simply fabulous that way.
Yummy!

I find you can't do anything wrong - it always turns out delicious.
What might look like sesame seeds is just cornmeal.

1. Mira, that looks fabulous!
I love it as a photo, too, with the light filtering through the blinds.

I just put a batch in the fridge. This one has 3 c. unbleached AP, 1 cup whole wheat and 2 cups semolina. It smelled great while it was rising on the table. We'll see how it turns out.

It really is a flexible recipe it seems. :hi:

3. OH WOW - SEMOLINA to that extent - that is news to me.
I love brand spanking new ideas. I would never have thought to try that.
I'll check back to see how it turned out before I try it.

I'm taking one of the loaves to a dinner invitation where German soul food is being served.
What fun to be able to contribute, and it is no work, no mess, and always close to perfect.

Thanks for the nice comment about my picture, the photography group are my teachers.

5. I'm sure your bread will receive many compliments and
be the hit of the evening. Bread is such a beloved food and excellent bread is nirvana. Have a great time.

I hope mine turns out as good. I was just making it up as I went along. LOL Hope I didn't just waste a lot of ingredients. It rose fine and smelled good so I think I'll be okay.
