What is your death row meal?
You know .... the meal you'd want if it were your last.

2. If I were having it right now it would be Insalata Caprese with heirlooms instead of plum tomatoes..
10 minutes from now it might be different.
I don't really have a "the LAST meal" mindset. I'm more of a "what sounds good right now" kind of foodie.

But I've been craving caprese for a couple of weeks now, so I'll go with that.

What's yours?

6. Honestly and probably only because it's been a long time
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 11:18 PM by The empressof all
I'd take a huge bag of White Castle double cheeseburgers, really good French fries with malt vinegar and lots of salt, Haagen Das Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and a big bag of Lay's Potato Chips (Sour Cream and Onion-no ridges). Oooooooh and maybe a bowl of Kraft Mac and Cheese--The blue box one but I'd want little chunks of Velveeta thrown in at the end so they are just ever so slightly melty.

And also some of Martha Stewarts Shaker Lemon Pie because I've been wanting it all day and can't make it until April.

I eat really healthy ---and for the last meal...I'd go out like gangbusters with the Junk

13. Not fair
ONE last meal would not be enough. A week of revelry and banquet tables full of every type of food imaginable.

Hey!! You only live once and I could hardly narrow it down to a few foods. And besides, if it is the end, what better way to exit than with a party with food.

18. Start with a bottle o' Guinness Extra Stout, then a
cheeseburger with mustard, lettuce and onions from Backyard Burger. Large order of fries. Strawberry shortcake for dessert. Large cup of black french roast coffee. A cigarette or a few. Double helping of something hallucinogenic.

20. For an appetizer a fresh from the garden tomato with salt & pepper, then...
Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and cream gravy, steamed asparagus, corn on the cob, yeasty cloverleaf rolls, spinach salad with pears, goat cheese, and toasted walnuts tossed with apple cider honey-mustard dressing. For dessert, chocolate layer cake with chocolate truffle icing and vanilla bean ice cream with hot fudge sauce. I would want to go directly to execution after ingesting this meal because I would suffer terribly all night long if I actually ate all this food.

23. Fresh stuff to start off with.
Edited on Thu Feb-19-09 12:10 AM by Shakespeare
Insalate caprese, followed by sliced white nectarines.

Then, a chopped beef brisket sandwich from Sonny Bryan's barbecue, with a side of their homemade onion rings.

Next, a plate of chiles rellenos, with beans and rice.

And for dessert, my creme brulee, and a cup of really great coffee.

24. See, now, this is why
they really don't WANT YOU on Death Row.

You'd never get executed, just because they'd all be out shopping forever, trying to find the ingredients. And then there'd be the recipes, and trying to convert the prison kitchen into a place elegant enough to handle white nectarines (which they'd look for for, oh, about twelve years).

You're safe.

Beer to wash it down.
