so I'm flying to Reno tomorrow. will the TSA freak out if I have some stainless cookware

I'm going to visit a friend and was gonna take him some of my old stainless cookware set

is it gonna set off alarms like crazy??

1. I had 2 cast Iron skillets in my luggage the last time I flew to

Indy from Mass. The luggage went right through the scanner without even a second look. My daughter, however, had to go through one of those full body scans. Personally, those things give me the creeps.

If I have anything that I wonder about, I just put it right on top of everything else and let them look. I certainly would not take anything that they would obviously confiscate so let they look all they want. Just no messing with the stuff that is obviously non-hazardous.

Just pack your pans well, socks in one, undies in the other. Slacks and tops filling up anything else or as padding. Mustn't waste space, they now charge $25.00 for your first non-carry-on bag.

2. yeah, that's a good idea. I was planning on packing 'into' them

it's just fairly light stainless cookware, 2 skillets, 2 pans and 3 glass lids

3. They are ridgidly enforcing weight requirements for luggage

When I flew In December we needed to pay an overage fee for our luggage that went over the 42 lb limit. That was for check in. I don't remember if they weighed our carry on but we didn't carry on much (no suitcase) Hope you pack "light"

I weighed it and have 9 pounds 'wiggle room' so I should be good

my carry on is carrying the electronics and lids and that's the weight really

thank for the reminder though, $15 under 50# !!$65!!! if it's over 50#

4. I've never travelled with cookware before. Just men.

A few of them could have set off an alarm or two too. That was in my "bad boy" phase.

7. Last fall I flew with a dog.

No... really. An actual dog, not a dude. A pug.

Weight limit to shove the poor thing under the seat was 20 lbs including carrying bag. Poor little spoiled thing didn't get any snacks or goodies for two weeks before the flight. My daughter said, "My, I've never seen him look 'svelt' before."

Dog counted as THE one allowed carry-on, ANND they charged $150 for an hour and a half flight and he didn't even get a seat!!!!

8. i took my chihuahua puppy on a flight one Xmas

she was supposed to be in the carrier at all times yadayadayada


she got more pets and treats and oooos and ahhs she was on my lap the whole time or in hubby's arms as we traveled through the airport

I had a bag that looked like a big purse and we even took her to the movies, then back on my lap for the show

I freaked out when a dog barked in the movie and she stood on my knee and "YAP YAP YAP" but my BiL didn't hear her three seats down

I miss that little dog :cry:
