Day Four Since I Got Hit With Food Poisoning And
Oh jeez, I can't take any more saltines, ginger ale, or Gatorade.

Yesterday I kept cheese-toast down, so screw it.

When I get home I'm making a seafood stew.

gots onions & garlics, gots shallots, gots fennel, gots canned tomatoes, gots fish sauce and gots shrimps, clams and squids.

1. Man...food poisoning straight to seafood?
You are a brave soul!

I'm sooo sorry you got nailed too. I went through food poisoning from a fast food chain once, many years ago. I still remember it vividly.

I hope you have a lovely dinner and that it stays put. :)

3. Yikes!
You are brave, after I've been sick I just want "mommy cooking". You know the stuff you got when you had to stay home from school? Warm, simple soups... toasted buttery bread... melt-y cheese... pasta... peas...

When Mr T was down with some dental surgery I made him the ultimate from my mother's repertoire - milky-bread. Warm milk with a piece of white bread floating in it - with salt and pepper and a dab of melting butter. He asked for it 2 days in a row...
oh, ya gotta be in pain to ask for milky-bread...

5. Make sure you also use hot sauce!
Man .... I'd be careful ...... I'd be more into a buttered english muffin ..... maybe a poached egg on top.

11. I've Been Very Nice To Myself
I just get so bored when I'm sick. Thank goodness it's not often.

Yesterday afternoon I felt great(!) and a seafood stew seemed like such a good idea for when it was all over. At the time. Right now, a banana looks good.

8. There's a really bad norovirus going around
that blows both ways for about 48 hours.

Are you sure it was food poisoning?

If it was the norovirus, you should be good to go, although I'd probably lay off anything heavy. The first meal after a period of fasting should be a light one.

12. Some Years Ago
I heard some contagious diseases MD on the radio or tv, talking about how a long of things we used to think were "bugs" were actually food poisoning. I lost a few quarts of water weight when this struck.

10. Wow! Sorry to hear that.
Be careful on those tummies if they aren't ready yet. Hope you all are feeling better really soon.

Any idea where it came from or at least any suspects?

Let's just say my new rule is: don't eat Chinese food at Baltimore airport on a Sunday afternoon.

14. Excuse me for saying this, but your seafood stew plans sound "gutsy"
I went through a few days of hell with listeria last week (starting the day before the outbreak made the local papers). It was a couple of pieces of toast and ginger ale for me for two days before I chanced something a little more adventurous and substantial. Plus ranitidine.

Hope you're feeling much better. Food poisoning is the one potentially fatal thing I've ever gone through where I was hoping I wouldn't survive it. I have a shrimp salad episode from 1990 that would send everyone in this group on a one-week fast immediately, but I won't share it.

16. Har Har
Actually, I didn't follow through with the threat yet, didn't feel like standing in front of the stove that long. Instead I just thawed and steamed some of the shrimp and made a cocktail sauce - yes, with horseradish.
