We've finally decided on our kitchen redo (pic heavy)
A few months ago, I asked for help on redoing our kitchen. Thanks to all who gave advice, especially to Husb2Sparkly. Here's what we've decided.

The before pic.

The new counters - they are Silestone, a quartz product that is very similar to granite. We plan to put in a tumbled marble backspash on the diagonal.

The new stove

The fridge

The dishwasher

We still haven't decided on the microwave. We're considering the Advantium oven because I like the idea of being able to use it as a regular oven when I have two things that need to be cooked at diff temps at the same time. I don't really like the way it looks though. Does anyone know have one of these or know anything about them?

1. Ya made some good choices, but as to the Advantium, I can't help
I don't know much at all about that oven. So I can't comment.

Who's dishwasher is that? I looks similar to our Kitchenaid, but I don't think it is ... the handle looks different.

I assume you're replacing the counter and appliances but keeping your existing cabinets?

You'll love the Silestone, as carefree as carefree can be. While we all have favorites and dream materials (I like metal - and would love to have copper and tin even more than my stainless, but the cost for them is **really** killer) I actually believe these quartz counters represent the perfect counter material. They can take heavy use (and abuse) like metal can, they're easy to keep clean, they're impervious to heat, hard to scratch, and as compared to other materials like laminate or corian-types, actually come very close to looking like real granite.

My ex has that same pattern in her kitchen. I helped her install a tile backsplash in a buff color 3x6 tile and the whole combo looked very good. She did an accent course of a tile with a pattern on it in mostly green about two courses up from the counter. That gave her a way to key off and go for green accents in the mostly neutral kitchen. All in all, very calm looking.

2. Thanks, all the appliances are GE Profile
We picked the stove first because it is also a convection oven and we liked the looks and other features. Then we pretty much stuck with the GE line.

We really can't justify spending the money to replace the cabinets, they are only 6 years old and our kitchen layout really can't be changed because all of the utilities connections are run through the slab and we just retiled the floor. I also have a huge oak rolltop desk that is in the family room right next to the kitchen so the oak cabinets work. I do plan to replace the brass cabinet pulls with wrought iron since we have a wrought iron bakers rack and several other wrought iron accessories in the kitchen.

4. We did pretty much the same saort of thing this time, too
Our kitchen redo was more "make-over" than rebuild. We kept the cabinets, even though they're at least 15 years old ... maybe 20. But they're in perfect condition. And the appliances were all moved the last time, and they work well where they are now. We still wanna replace the cabinet doors, but I'm still not sure with what.

6. We're ordering the counters this weekend
It will take 2-3 weeks for them to be installed. I can't wait either. I have been living with the darn green formica for way too long!

7. Everything is beautiful
I like the countertop material. I think our neighbor has this same material in a darker pattern. He says it's tough as nails. So, when we get new, we're going with the same but lighter like you chose.

I have to say that I like your old countertops, too. I like green because everything goes with it. I had the avocado stove and fridge and missed them when they were gone. But the stainless is calling me, too. Hands down gorgeous.

Our home is also on a slab. Your kitchen arrangement looks functional. And with the new surface materials, it's going to look fabulous dah-ling! I like the styling of the GE apppliances, as well. Good luck with everything!

10. LOL my cat is anything but a scaredy cat
My MIL used to call her the demon cat. Jamie is now 17 and still feisty but she is mellowing in her old age. She lives with 3 terriers but is still the queen of the house.
