Baked Beans recipe please?
I used to make baked beans years ago. I can't find my recipe but I do have a basic idea of how to make them. My web searches come up with hundreds of recipes but they all start with "a large can of baked beans" LOL

So, is there a baked bean recipe that you would like to share with me please?

thanks.

1. not pc to say this
but it's hard to beat B&M vegetarian canned baked beans. Esp. when you don't have to check on them every few hours for a day or so.

3. No kidding, especially when you throw in a little extra
mustard and molasses. They're OK as is, but I liked to kick them up a bit.

People from offshore thought they were an exotic treat, even after I explained it's what our mothers fed us at the end of the week when they ran out of money.

I tried beanhole beans once, was not impressed.

2. Morning, kesha!
Mine is very simple. I mix chopped onions, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, a little Frank's Red Hot, salt, pepper, garlic, and celery seed into the beans (canned beans, drained.) Maybe a wee little splash of Worcestershire sauce. Place into a glass casserole or glass 9x13 cake pan, depending on how much you are needing to make. I spray it a little with oil, especially the top edge where it will stick most. You can then place strips of bacon across the top if you wish and bake until they look the way you want them.

Happy New Year to you, dear. :hi:

5. here is the recipe my mother and grandmother used
1 pound dry beans (2 cups)
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
few grains black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons molasses
1/2 pound salt pork (may substitute 2 tablespoons vegetable oil)
2 1/2 cups boiling water

Pick over beans, wash and place in large bowl. Cover with water and soak overnight. Next morning, drain beans and put them in bean pot. Add sugar, salt, pepper, dry mustard and molasses, stir well. Add enough boiling water to just cover beans. Put washed & scored salt pork on beans. Cover with lid and cook at 250 degrees for 8 hours. Add a little boiling water as necessary to keep beans just covered with water, but do not stir. Remove cover for the final hour of baking.
