A cupcake question.

On average how many cupcakes does a standard cake recipe make?

I've found I rather like making cakes, although I'm not much of a cake eater. I'm thinking if I make cupcakes they will easier to hand out to friends and family.:hi:

1. If I'm not mistaken,

they tell you on the back of the box. I haven't seen one in a long time but it seems to me they gave pan sizes including cupcakes.

4. Sorry. I misread your OP this morning.

I thought you had asked about a standard cake mix.

5. I'd count on a dozen cupcakes from each 9 inch layer

but the way to know for sure is to half fill the cake pan and then transfer the water into cupcake tins, half filling each, and just counting them out.

You're also going to need to alter baking time, but you knew that already, right?
