Heatwave carnitas
I thought y'all might be interested in this recipe: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/slowcooking-in-the-summer-heat-121376?utm_source=Kitchn+Weekly+Email&utm_campaign=15832fb27a-Kitchn_weekly_email_7_8_10&utm_medium=email

A good idea, IMO. We don't usually eat carnitas but this might be OK...

2. I rarely eat pork except for CARNITAS TACOS, which I have a major fondness for.
Of course, here in L.A. the solution to a carnitas craving is found on every other street corner at Carnita Michoacanos, the local and extremely seedy but fabulously delicious little taco chain.

I am always on the lookout for recipes that might approximate theirs. I am getting closer over the years......

where you spice the meat and let the water cook off. They were tender and flavorful. Not what we normally think of as barbecue but really, really good. I thought they'd be stringy and tasteless but nope. Even Rosie had seconds and she's not a big meat eater.

4. good links on there for hot weather cooking
During our heat wave a week ago I collected links and ideas for meals where one doesn't have to heat up the kitchen. If anyone wants me to post them, let me know.
