Hot weather cooking..

too hot even think about turning on the oven, I ran across this in an email from KAF
"Cake “baked” in an electric skillet, where a bottom layer of sugar, butter and fruit bubbles up over cake batter dolloped on top."
You could even set the skillet outside while it cooks!

1. I have a Sun Oven
but it can only be used on windless days. Other than that, if it can't be done on the stove top or in a toaster oven, it just doesn't get done in summertime.

I've done upside down cakes in electric fry pans. They're not bad. They're not as good as oven baked, but not heating up the house in summer is the real benefit. They should be saved until August, when you're so desperate for home baked goods that you're almost ready to heat the place up to get them. Then they become a perfectly acceptable substitute.
