Well, a little late, but in honor of Guy Fawkes Day in England:
Here is a link to a pretty good recipe for traditional Oatmeal Parkin.

Parkin is a traditional GFD food in northern England.

But, to paraphrase the late, great Gilda Radner, "you don't have to be English ...."

Parkin is basically gingerbread cake meets oatmeal granola bar. It can be used as a dessert topped with ice cream, whipped cream and berries, that sort of thing, or also makes a good cookie bar or granola bar for a snack.

The recipe in the link has English (non-metric) unit measurements. Treacle is basically just molasses, so just use that.

I made this last year, and it was very good.

1. So funny. My (english) husband was just telling me about this.
I don't have the ingredients, but will save this for next year.

:hi:

4. OK, that one is out where I live
Leaving it a week won't make it stickier. In this arid air, it will make it into a brick.
