Bill's been cooking beans and I made him half a dozen corn muffins to have with them.

Just pulled a lovely banana bread out of the oven a little while ago:

I modified by using 1/2 c. of whole wheat flour, adding another 1/4 c. of ww because I also added 1/3 c. of yogurt. Also added 1/2 c. black walnuts. It's delicious.



There's a loaf of wheat Ain5 in the oven for the hummus I'm about to make for his lunch, along with a carrot salad I need to make yet, too.

When those are done, we're going to work together to make mini-pumpkin whoopie pies with cream cheese filling using some fresh pumpkin puree he had leftover from making fresh pumpkin pies while I was away in Ohio.

He enjoyed being in the kitchen making his own cookies and muffins while I was gone, so now I've decided to let him in the kitchen more. Our microwave oven died before I left and he went and bought a new one without me and he made a really good choice, so I think he can be trusted. :D

1. It can be so fun to share cooking with someone

Sometimes it's great do a meal by yourself and gift someone else with it, other times it's wonderful in it's own way to share both the preparation and the eating. I think you'll enjoy having a cooing-partner more of the time. Hope the two of you spend many hours cooking up healthy, delicious goodies together in your kitchen.

I'm eating light today and Bill is working so we wont have meals together.

Probably pea-ritos for me for lunch (green peas - black eyed peas - pepper jack cheese -and cajun seasoning in flour tortillas - nuked)...with Ain5 and a salad for dinner.

Nothing ambitious at all for me today!

BTW - I've been craving pumpkin like crazy lately. :)

eating as light as you do.

These pumpkin whoopie pies are pretty easy to eat. We of course altered the recipe to include more cinnamon, and added some allspice and cloves.

And eating light is a self defense mechanism for me these days...with my tummy trouble, I pay a too big a price for heavier meals.

I ended up with a little bit of soft tacos for dinner instead of the salad and bread. Was yummy too.

25. Before Oklahoma (I.T.), my family had a big place on

the Conasauga River. A great-ggggggggrandfather was buried where the Tellico Dam is now. The Apache/Irish connection in your family is very interesting. Was the Irishman one of the San Patricios by any chance? So much American history is untold and untaught.... I've met two Apaches while living in NY, both in show business, one a fine actress and one a super-cool reggae musician. :hi:

26. I don't think so. I have very little info on that side of the family but they werent from Galway.

I have run into a stumbling block just a few generations back on that side of the family, and there isn't anyone alive who can tell me when the immigration happened. I was also told about a gypsy connection also...but that info is even more vague. I've always wondered if they were talking about travellers or a Romany connection. Verrah mysterious!

But maybe that's changing.

15. You know...

before we married, he did cook on occasion. Made Italian bread and spinach quiche, lots of other things. He has a Joy of Cooking book that was his pre-marriage. (He likes the book, I don't.)

Anyway, I like my own cooking so I never let him cook except very rarely. He's complained about it a few times over the years, so I guess I'll let him while I'm not feeling all that hot.

11. 3 Pounds of bananas for $1.32 - that was 8 or 9 really big bananas

I bought at Costco last week. At that price, I couldn't resist! I put them in the garage and bring in 1-2 at a time so they ripen more slowly so I can use them up, but even so they're getting ripe faster than I can use them. Your banana bread sounds like a great idea for some of them! And of course, your picture makes my mouth water... :)

It is very, very good.

And I've noticed the same thing with the bananas at work. We go through so many. The residents eat them like there's no tomorrow, yet they are going bad so fast.
