Toad in the Hole!
Inspired by the news story on CNN that some prince and new princess aren't going to have servants
http://cnn.com/video/?/video/bestoftv/2010/12/29/nr.bpr.royals.no.servants.cnn

I can soooo do this! :D

Classic English Toad-in-the-Hole Recipe
Preparation time: 1 hour.
http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/classic_english_toad-in-the-hole/

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup of plain flour
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb of good-quality sausage (pork, turkey)
salt and pepper
Method
1 Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees F. Sift flour into a bowl with a pinch of salt and pepper. Make a well in the center of the flour. Whisk the eggs and the milk into the center of the well in the flour, gradually to smooth out lumps. Cover and let stand 30 minutes.

2 Brown the sausages in a little olive oil and cook through, about 10 minutes

3 Put sausages in a roasting pan, pour the batter over the sausages and place in oven. Cook for about 20 minutes or until the batter is risen and golden. Serve at once.

Serves 4-6

I need eggs. They keep freezing in my fridge this time of year.

Soon. :woohoo:

1. So, basically, it's Yorkshire Pudding over sausage?
More or less. I think a true Yorkshire Pudding might have a higher egg content. But it's pretty much the same idea.

2. No idea what is in Yorkshire Pudding
I've heard it mentioned on TV and such. Always thought it was a dessert.

Looking it up now :)

:hi:

3. No, it's the same batter as popovers, but poured into pan drippings.
You pour the batter into the bottom of the pan where you've cooked a beef roast, then let it cook until browned top and bottom. It puffs up somewhat.

Here's a basic Yorkshire Pudding recipe:

4. Popovers I know
I've even made them before. Mine were done in a muffin tin though. Same concept, cool.

:)
