I'm going into the hospital on Wed for the full hip replacement. (It's been a long agonizing battle in overcoming my resistance to doing it)
Rich is now able to use the rice cooker and can make my rice and quinoa. I have plenty of canned beans and I have him trained to make the green smoothies and vegan banana ice cream.
I'm going to make some Cauliflower soup today for the freezer and probably some more white bean and kale.
I stopped my CSA delivery for two weeks as he won't know what to do with fresh veggies. I introduced him to my lady at the bakery/deli at the coop so she's on alert on what's good to buy. And if all else fails he can nuke me some oatmeal.
I feel good that I'll be eating ok afterward. The hospital also accommodates vegan diets so that's a happy thing.

I know several people who have had this done. It's still a very hard surgery, of course, but better than it used to be, with smaller incisions and quicker healing time than 20 years ago.
It sounds like a good plan to handle the cooking post-op.

One of my close friends had that done about 6 months ago. He recovered pretty damned fast. I hope you do the same . . . or better!
