Does anyone have a good recipe for KC style barbeque sauce?
I tried this one last night and the amount of tomato paste overwhelmed it. It wasn't a total loss but I'd like to figure out how to fix this for next time. Any suggestions, much appreciated.

Kansas City Barbeque Sauce:

* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 1 (about 2/3 cup)small onion, finely diced
* 3 cups water
* 1 cup (2 (6-ounce) cans) tomato paste
* 1/2 cup brown sugar
* 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
* 1/4 cup molasses
* 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1. Here are a few ideas
http://bbq.about.com/b/2006/06/21/arthur-bryants-bbq-sauce.htm

In case you're not familiar, Arthur Bryant's BBQ is a famous place that looks like the joint it is. It has seen every famous visitor to Kansas City inside its front door. As they enter, the pass, in the front windows, much like big vats of sun tea, five gallon glass jugs of raw sauce, set to cook for a few days in the sun.

6. I just found a BBQ sauce recipe I love.
I've not tried many BBQ sauce recipes, I'll admit. But this is one that I made when looking for recipes and I had almost all the ingredients on hand (with my exceptions* in parenthesis). I don't buy bottled BBQ sauce anymore, and I kept my changes.

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup soy sauce (*****I just use a few drops, due to salt)
1/4 cup cider vinegar (*I use red wine vinegar)
1/4 cup Heinz chili sauce
2 tsp French’s yellow mustard
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced (* minced from a jar is fine)
1/8 tsp black pepper

Simmer low in saucepan stirring occasionally for 30 minutes or more. Perfect for ribs, chicken, etc.

I just love it. Hope others will also. :hi:

{*****Seriously? A half cup of soy sauce? That just sounds terribly WRONG!}
