watch your supermarket ads for baking supplies on sale
Prices will go up as Christmas gets closer. There may still be some good deals on the stuff you'll need for baking. Example: my Kroger chain store had Challenge butter at $2 per pound with store coupon. Also in the store was a coupon dispenser with manufacturer's coupon for 75 cents off pound of Challenge butter. So I got ten pounds of good butter for $1.25/pound over the week. Monday that butter will be off sale, at $4/pound.

I really like Challenge butter anyhoo -- it is rated the number 1 supermarket butter by Saveur magazine.

1. Also check check online for coupons.
Often, you can get them on the web site of the product, or on printable coupon sites, such as coupons.com.

I don't think I have seen Challenge butter around here. Will have to keep an eye out for it.

4. today the Challenge butter is $4.79/pound!
A lot of things went up today. The more urgent your need for ingredients as Christmas gets closer, the more things are going to cost.

It's a computer-driven racket. Only those with money to stock up at the low prices can beat the system.

5. Many supermarkes have an automated system for coupons also
If you use their frequent shoppers card, you can go to their website, choose the coupons online that you're interested in, and load them into your account. That way when you checkout, the coupons are automatically applied.
