Members cannot post unless they are donors.....
Edited on Sat Nov-13-04 01:28 AM by Lilli
The meeting room is going to be going away, so I started this DU Group for the prayer circle. Now I see that members cannot post unless they are a DU Donor. I did donate earlier today, just a tiny bit, but I realize that not everyone can or wants to.

I'm not sure where else we could post that isnt so high traffic. We can look for another forum and let the group go, or I can post requests for those who dont want to donate. Everyone can read the posts in the forum.... you just cant post in here without donating.

I feel awful.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Please pm me if you dont want to post an answer here (or if you CANT)

Lilli

1. The name "prayer circle" sort of confuses me. Is this form to discuss
various religious topics, Bible verses we feel might be relevant to today's happenings in the world or is just for people to unite in prayer?

If various religious topics are to be discussed, a different name might attract more people. Just a suggestion - no offense taken I hope.

2. Hi Patricia .
I think Lilli started the 'Prayer Circle'with the intention of bringing people together to unite behind a common goal. Each day different suggestions will be put forward, which we will either pray for or meditate on achieving, according to your religious beliefs.

I am sure that you are in the right place, if you would like to discuss the bible in relation to the world today. As for the name of the group, we are due to meet here at 10am ET., so perhaps you can bring up your suggestions then . :)

4. Jasper91 described it perfectly. We are gathering to
work as a prayer circle, but I think it would be great to discuss bible verse and meditations and practices as well.

3. I've never donated very much to DU, but during fund drives,
I've always offered to donate for others as well. I'd rather donate the minimum for a couple of lively, interesting DUers than donate the equivalent amount in my own name.

Here's how to do it:
Post a Lounge (or you could of course post here if you wanted to doante for someone who's a fan of this group) thread announcing that anyone who posts offers to donate for another DUer. People who can donate reply to it and ask DUers in need to PM them. That way you can have some idea who you are donating for.

Also, some DUers in the past have coordinated these drives themselves, asking those who can give and those in need of gift donations to PM them.

My preference is for the former, but I have donated for others using both methods and have never made an ill-advised donation.

Every time there is a fund drive, it makes me ill to see progressives piling on the guilt about those without "stars." I've told them in the past they should put up or shut up. There are some well-off people on DU who have been willing to help others out, but there's also the inevitable wretch who seems to think we are all in a comfy boat. We aren't, and the Admins know this (after all, the live a pretty hand-to-mouth existence themselves).

Rather than move to another place I'd rather donate for someone sho can't. I love the formatting and useability of DU. I've been on other boards that were so confusing as to be almost unusable.
