In the last week two of my wonderful friends have encountered some of the most difficult moments in their lives. I wonder if I can ask some of my DU buddies to remember them.
One is Bob, an absolutely terrific Roman Catholic priest (no, not one of those altar boy chasers) - but he does have his own demons. Last Sunday during the homily he announced that he will be away from the parish for a while because he is an alcoholic and will be going through rehab.
The other friend, Mark, is a Virginia State Policeman who was diagnosed yesterday with stage three lung cancer. Mark has never smoked in his life! He is, of course, in excellent physical condition otherwise, and is one of the best and strongest (in many ways) men I've ever been privileged to know. I've never heard him say a bad word about another person.
If you can just remember those names - Bob and Mark - during your devotions, I know they will be helped. Thanks so very much for reading my request.
