I'm what you call a kinship grandma
and I need your prayers still. It's been almost two years since four of my grandkids (twin girls - 14, K age eight and the baby age 4) came to live with us. We had retired to a single wide mobile home in a retirement community when we finally contacted our Governor since DHS would pay no attention to us. Thank you Lord for the strength. Kids tested positive for cocaine and placed with us. This summer, the baby fell and broke her femur (top part of leg) and spent 20 days in traction and then 6 weeks in body cast. How blessed we were with friends and strangers helping with an around the clock watch with KK. Only through prayer...I fell again and shattered my wrist, had the whole external hardware again, secured by six pins into my hand and wrist. Again, we made it through the grace of God

Mom disappeared for 6 months when the kids were first placed with us, came back, went to jail and is now in recovery and has attained custody of one of the twins and KK. Also getting unlimited visits. Please pray that I can find forgiveness in my heart for my daughter. I hate what she has put my grandchildren through, I hate what she's done to our health through the stress etc. I could say I hate her. But I know that's not right. Pls pray for my husband and I while we are going through this difficult time of watching our grandchildren going back and forth to their mom. Facing more emotional stress everyday, and returning back to us and needing more discipline, effort etc. We are so tired....Lord help us

For your info, the term kinship refers to relative foster care placement. This means lower costs for DHS since families are not reimbursed for caring for children. There is a nationwide epidemic of kinship foster kids and someday I promise to help bring attention to their needs - Lord give me strength..

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have seen it many times since I was little. And even today I see it. I read your post and I wished that I lived in your city for you to cry on my shoulder because you need a break and some rest. Bless your hearts
