with my son's school and teacher; help!
My son is 10 and is certainly no angel--he's willful and stubborn as hell but has made terrific progress in controlling his behavior this year. I fully accept that and have done my damnedest to help his school help him control it and all have agreed that it seems to be paying off.
But now it appears his teacher is looking for ANY excuse to make certain he doesn't "make his day" (the school's crappy discipline program). She wrote a note to me saying he "shoved" (her words) another student into the water fountain. But according to my son--AND the school counselor, that isn't what happened at all.
The other student was running (against the rules) and both heads collided and the other, smaller boy fell down. But little Hayden made his day, while my son receives a note with the word "shoving" used.
I used to be a teacher--I have sympathy for what they go through, but I'm just about at wit's end. I want to even pull him out and home school the rest of the year (he starts a new school next fall since we have moved.)
I think she's begun to single him out knowing full well he won't be returning next year. Do I seem too sensitive to this? I freely admit he's had some problems, but this doesn't appear to be his fault from what I've heard (and not just from BAL Jr.)
If nothing else, I need calmed down in order not to make a rash decision. HELPHELPHEEELP!
Thanks, gang.
