Hubby had it last week, and I was grateful Material Girl was at Grandma's house. He was miserable and not too quiet about it. We survived an all nighter that saw him vomiting for about five hours straight. I was listening to him throw up and suffer and was much relieved when he stopped being so sick... (It got so bad at one point I begged him to LET me take him to the ER.)
Last night at about 2 AM, Material Girl and I BOTH started vomiting. Five hours later, the vomiting had stopped but the "dire rears" continued.
Now, some observations about stomach flu and families:
1. If your kid throws up in bed, do NOT put that kid in YOUR bed "to keep warm" while you change their sheets. I will guarantee that you'll end up changing YOUR bed out too if you make that mistake. Parenting books NEVER tell you this kind of stuff.
2. The plastic cake covers that grocery stores put on cakes you buy ready prepared make the BEST puke bowls ever. You can rinse them out after each bout, but throw them away when you are all done with the vomit sessions.
3. The chances you will vomit while cleaning up after your kid are increased greatly by contact with puke covered sheets and PJs. Frankly, I have never been good with vomit, but oceans of it--mine AND the kid's--are just too much.
5. There is nothing any more difficult than telling your kid NO when they beg for a drink of water after vomiting.
6. The morning after with any sick kid will be a complete b*&$h because they are gonna recover a lot faster than you do.
Sorry, but I wanted some sympathy and I wanted to share my mystic revelations with you all... :)

PS: I started my period today too--so now I have CRAMPS to go along with the other fun stuff! I think this single coincidence probably rules out the existence of ANY benevolent deity...
